Born and raised in Panama, Amsterdam-based artist Antonio Jose Guzman ((Panama City, 1971) embodies the idea of the globally connected individual. He lives and works in Amsterdam, Panama City and Dakar.

He continues to research universal and existential themes such as ethnic identity, migration, diasporas and utopian ideals. His projects incorporate symbols, metaphors and statements to point out the importance of new ideas of social reform.

Guzman is known for his installations, videos and photography inspired by scientific research, utopias and cultural analysis. His projects allow us to cross-different time zones, unexplored worlds and realms; bringing us into what Guzman calls time travel perceptions.

His work has been exhibited worldwide at: The Museum of Contemporary Art MHKA, Antwerp; Gemak de Vrije Academie, The Hague; Gallery Image Arhus, Denmark; Knipsu Art Space Norway; Moretti and Moretti, Paris; and in Rush Art Galleries, New York City. He participated in the Sharjah Biennial, United Arab Emirates, The Havana Biennial, Cuba and in the Dakar Biennial, Senegal.

Guzman has been giving lectures the last years in renowned institutions such as the New School New York; the Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem; the DAI Artez Master School program, Tent Rotterdam; the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, Det Jyske Kunstakademi, Aarhus, Denmark; and in Windward School Los Angeles, California

Besides his individual art practice, Guzman is the founder and Creative Director of The State of L3 Contemporary Arts & Film Collective.
